Downtown Barrie Breakfast Program

We are all aware that Barrie has both Homelessness and Drug usage problems – particularly in the downtown core. As an act of compassion and love of neighbour, we are joining with other churches and concerned people to offer breakfast to the homeless and those in need each day – rain or shine. St. Mary’s will be offering breakfast on Thursday Mornings from 8:00 am to 9:30 am in the parking lot of the Salvation Army Bayside Mission (Maple Street) entrance. We hope to have enough people willing to do the different tasks – that they will only have to serve every 2-3 weeks.  We need people to be:

1) Breakfast servers;

2) Breakfast assemblers;

3) People who “Shop and drop”

4) Benefactors – who donate funds to support the program

Breakfast servers will: (Need to be 16 years of age or older & be trained)

  • Arrive at the church front doors at 7:00 am Thursday mornings,
  • Make the Coffee and Boil Water,
  • Load the Breakfast supplies into their vehicles
  • Set up and serve the breakfast in the Salvation Army Parking Lot
  • Bring supplies back to the Church, clean containers.

  • Meet at the church on Wednesday afternoons (Time TBA)
  • Assemble the food into individual baggies under the supervision of a person with a food safe handling certificate
