Catholic Women's League

The Catholic Women's League is an organization for women of the parish. It offers an opportunity for service, for fellowship and for spiritual growth. Did you know that on Mondays from 10 a.m. until 12 noon a group of St. Mary's ladies get together to enjoy a time of companionship, prayer and knitting or crocheting? The prayer shawls they create are given to people who are grieving or ill as a symbol that fellow parishioners are remembering them and praying for them. Come join us and get to know other creative and thoughtful people of your parish. Wool as well as knitting and crocheting needles are provided. Note: The group does not meet on holiday Mondays such as on Family Day.

A History of the Catholic Women's League of Canada. 1920-29: The Building of a Nationwide Organization A grant of $3,000 was given by the Knights of Columbus to allow Mrs. R. H. Kneil to travel across Canada organizing subdivisions. The crest design was approved and is still in use today. Our Lady of Good Counsel was selected as the League's patroness.

The Catholic Women's League at St. Mary's in Barrie is celebrating 100 years of service to the Barrie area in 2021.

Since our inception in May 2016, Days for Girls has completed 565 sustainable feminine hygiene kits to help keep girls in school. Each kit costs $20 to make.
