prayer requestsIf you or a family member is sick please let us know and we shall add their name to our prayer list which is posted in the gathering space of the church.

We remember in prayer those who have died recently including: Deacon Robert MacNeil and infant Amelia Grace Taylor.

Visiting the Hospital

hospitaIf you or a family member are admitted to RVH and would appreciate a visit from someone at St. Mary’s please call or email the parish office.  Please note: the hospital no longer provides us with a list of Catholics who are hospitalized; therefore, you must notify the parish.

Trinity Sunday

Trinity SundayToday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.  This is one of the few days in the liturgical year that we celebrate a doctrine and belief rather than an event (i.e. Easter Sunday or Christmas) or a person (i.e. St. Joseph or Mary the Mother of God) Today we celebrate our eternal God: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Two prayers that embody our belief in the Trinity are: the Sign of the Cross and the Glory Be. Trinity Sunday is always celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost.

June 4 is Share Life Sunday!

ShareLife CharityShow your love for others by giving on ShareLife Sunday

Today’s Gospel talks about God’s love for us that he gave us his only Son for us to be saved through his life and sacrifice.

We are called to live by this love and faithfulness. Your generous contributions speak of love for others and allow ShareLife agencies take care of those in most need.

Today is also the third ShareLife Sunday of the year. If you have not yet donated, you may give at the parish using a ShareLife envelope, online through our parish website, or at sharelife.org/donate.

To-date we have collected $78,898 towards our goal of $125,000.

Thank you for your generosity and for living the Gospel by giving to ShareLife!

Ordinary Time

Ordinary TimeOn Monday, June 5th we enter the season of Ordinary Time. The white or gold vestments of Easter are put aside and we embrace green vestments. Green reminds us of life.  During this long span of Ordinary Time, the gospel on Sundays will be from the gospel of St. Luke. This span of Ordinary Time extends to November 20th when we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King.

Each Sunday (Saturday evening) when we gather with the Body of Christ to give praise to God we are nourished from the table of God’s Word and the table of the Eucharist.  The nourishment we receive strengthens us to live as the Body of Christ for the life of the world.

Resuming Communion from the Cup: Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ

priest holding CommunionWe have received permission to resume offering the Blood of Christ to the assembly. Beginning on Sunday, June 10 /11 at all Masses we shall be able to receive both the Body and Blood of Christ. We remember that when we receive the Host we are receiving the Body and Blood of Christ. Everyone who is able to receive the Body of Christ is invited to receive the Blood of Christ from the chalice. To participate in the Chalice is a fuller sign of the banquet.

If you are feeling unwell please refrain from receiving from the Chalice.  We remind everyone that it is important to remain at home when sick. The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion receive formation and instruction on the importance of purifying the chalice.

Resuming the Offertory Collection

Basket holding envelopesBeginning June 10 /11 at each Sunday (Saturday evening) Mass we will resume the practice of passing the offertory basket.  Our active participation in the celebration of Mass is crucial and is evident when we answer the prayers, listen to God’s Word and join in singing.  Being able to put our monetary contribution to the upkeep of the parish and the work of the church into the collection basket is another sign of our participation.

To begin to take up the collection we require two people at each Mass.  If you are able to assist please speak with David Murdoch or send him an email at dmurdoch@archtoronto.org.
