World Day of the Sick: February 11

prayers for these peopleJesus’ ministry to the sick is central to the life of the Church. On Sunday, February 11th, the memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes highlights the healing ministry of the Church. The Anointing of the Sick conveys several graces and imparts the gifts of strengthening in the Holy Spirit against anxiety, discouragement and temptation and conveys peace and fortitude. The Anointing of the Sick is a prayer of healing including spiritual health and for the courage, strength and peace to bear the burden of illness.

Hospital VisitationVisiting the Hospital: if you or a family member are admitted to RVH please let them know you are Catholic and call the parish office to inform us. If you wish to receive Holy Communion please let the parish office know and one of our pastoral visitors will come to see you.

 

Liturgy of the Word with Children

Liturgy of the Word with ChildrenWe are wanting to offer Liturgy of the Word with Children on Sundays at the 12:00 p.m. Mass and we are looking for adult leaders. The commitment would be once or twice a month on a Sunday. Leaders have to be 18 years old and up. Formation and training will be provided. Please contact David dmurdoch@archtoronto.org if you are interested in leading this important ministry.

 

Anointing Mass

Sacrament of AnointingOn Friday, February 9th at 12:10 p.m. the parish will celebrate a Mass of Anointing. All those requesting the Sacrament of Anointing, young and elderly are welcome to attend. A reception of soup and sandwiches will follow in the parish hall.

All families who have formally registered in the preparation process will participate in a parent child catechetical meeting. The second and final opportunity to attend this meeting is on:

You only attend this meeting once.

The married couples in our parish are a sign to us of God’s faithfulness and through their witness we are strengthened. If you celebrated a wedding anniversary in January we shall pray with you and share in your joy at all Sunday (Saturday evening) Masses this weekend, January 27th and 28th. We thank God for the gift of the married couples in our midst.

Youth Ministry

Ages K to Grade 5 groupM.E.R.C.Y. (Ministry to Educate Roman Catholic Youth) is for youth grades J.K. to Gr. 4 and gathers once a month on Friday nights from 6:00-7:30 p.m. where we explore our faith in a dynamic way through activities, games, crafts and music.  Our next gathering is Friday, February 9th.. Registration required. 

 

EDGE 2023EDGE is a youth ministry program for youth grades 5-8 to come together once a month on a Friday from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  EDGE is a safe, fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith and most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way.  Our next gathering is Friday, February 23rd.

 

LifeTeen 2023LIFETEEN – for high school teens to explore their faith through talks, prayer and friendship meeting monthly on Sunday nights. Our next gathering is TONIGHT - Sunday, January 28th after the 4:00 p.m. Mass.  Dinner provided.

Prom DressesProm Glitz

Prom Glitz is a non-profit volunteer-run organization in Barrie, that provides free dresses to grade 12,’s and grade 8’s for Prom and Graduation.  We’re able to do this work with generous support from bridal shops, dress stores and individuals.  Over the years since 2005, Prom Glitz has supported hundreds of students in all schools in Simcoe County and many areas around the province. 

We’re looking for new or gently used dresses for this year’s Boutique Days in February at the Kozlov Centre.  We hope that you can help!  If you have gently used gowns to donate, please drop them off in the parish hall before Mass.  For more information visit www.promglitz.ca or email promglitzgowns@gmail.com.
