Due to the protocols surrounding COVID-19, this year’s Annual Mass for the Faithful Departed has unfortunately been cancelled at our seven Catholic cemeteries.  His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins will celebrate and livestream a special Mass in honour of our faithful departed on Wednesday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica.  The mass can be viewed here:  www.stmichaelscathedral.com/live

Here in the parish, the Mass on Wednesday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. will be offered for the souls of the Faithful Departed of the parish in the past year.

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Assumption of MaryToday the universal Church celebrates the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The assumption refers to Mary being assumed into heaven, body and soul, at the end of her earthly life. Many writings of the early Church fathers illustrate that Christians have believed for more than a millennium that Mary was assumed into heaven. In 1950 Pope Pius XII officially defined the dogma of the Assumption of Mary. Our beliefs about Mary shine a light on our beliefs about Jesus. The Assumption reminds us of Christ’s teaching of eternal life and the resurrection of the body.

Life Story Writing Program: September 2021  “The Life Story Writing Programme provides an opportunity to stop, take stock, and look back over the process of life in order to gain deeper understanding, clearer perspective and a more integrated view.  Undertaken from a faith perspective, it is a search for evidence in your life that God has been with you and is still with you.  Such discovery nourishes one’s inner being, renews one’s spirit and energizes for the journey ahead.”                                                                                       --Dr. Richard Johnson

We will offer this six-week program beginning Monday, September 20th.  The sessions will be held from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Registration is required.  For details please contact Catherine Ecker at cecker@archtoronto.org or call 705 728 2985 ext. 115.

every child mattersPrayer for Reconciliation

Holy One, Creator of all that is, seen and unseen,

of story and of song, of heartbeat ad of tears

of bodies, souls, voices and all relations:

You are the God of all truth and the way of all reconciliation.

Uphold with your love and compassion all who open their lives

in the sacred sharing of their stories

breathe in us the grace to trust in your loving forgiveness,

that we may face our histories with courage;

touch us through the holy gift of story

that those who speak and those who listen may

behold your redeeming presence;

guide us with holy wisdom to enter through the gates of remorse

that our feet may walk gently and firmly on the way of justice and healing. Amen.
