WelcomeToday, we welcome Marco Busic to St. Mary’s.  Marco is a seminarian and will be with us until the end of July.  He is completing his third year of theology and entering his final year before his ordination to the diaconate and priesthood.  Please be sure to introduce yourself and give him a warm welcome.

Youth Ministry

Ages K to Grade 5 groupM.E.R.C.Y. (Ministry to Educate Roman Catholic Youth) for grades J.K.-4. and gathers once a month on Friday nights from 6:00-7:30 p.m. 

Our next gathering is Friday, June 2nd, 6:00-7:30 p.m.

 

EDGE 2023EDGE is a youth ministry program for youth grades 5-8 to come together once a month on a Friday from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  

Our next gathering is Friday, May 12th.

 

LifeTeen 2023LIFETEEN – is for high school teens to explore their faith through talks, prayer and friendship meeting monthly on Sunday nights.

Our next gathering is TODAY Sunday, May 7th at the 4:00 p.m. Mass.

Pop-up Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit will hold a Covid-19 Clinic here in our parish hall on Monday, June 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Appointments can be booked at https://covid-19,ontario.ca/book-vaccine or by calling 1-833-943-3900. Walk-ins accepted while supplies last. 

 

Are you able to host a Ukrainian family?

There is an immediate need for families to host a Ukrainian family for a period of 1-6 months for those who have arrived.

Meal Ministry for the Homeless  

As part of our cooperative spirit with the downtown churches in Barrie, we are holding a meeting on Thursday, May 11th at 7:00 p.m. in our parish hall to discuss meal preparation for the homeless. You’re invited to attend this important meeting to learn how you can help prepare meals for those less fortunate in the community!  

 

 

Hospitality Sunday

A big thank you to two of our parish schools, Monsignor Clair and St. Mary’s for hosting Hospitality Sunday last weekend.  Delicious coffee and treats were enjoyed by all!  Our next Hospitality Sundays are:  May 13/14th (8am & 10am The Good Shepherd School) and May 27th (St. Joseph’s High School Parent Council) and May 28th.  If you would like to help on a Sunday please call the parish office.

 

Catholic Women’s League Annual Diaper Drive

The CWL are collecting diapers (sizes 5, 6, 7), pull-ups, Goodnights, baby wipes and skin care diaper cream after all Masses next weekend on May 13th/14th in support of The Women’s and Children’s Shelter of Barrie.  Donations of cash or cheques are welcomed –(cheques made payable to The Women and Children’s Shelter of Barrie). 

 

St. Vincent de Paul Camps

Once again, our St. Vincent de Paul camps will be running this summer.  We run at Marygrove Camp for girls - ages 5 – 13 and Ozanam Camp for boys - ages 7 - 12.   Registration Date –Saturday, May 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph's room, here in the parish. At the time of registration please provide a photocopy of your child's Ontario Health Card, front only. Covid vaccines are not required this year.  We look forward to serving the children of our community with this opportunity.

 

Altar Server Training

Visiting the Hospital

If you or a family member are admitted to RVH and would appreciate a visit from someone at St. Mary’s please call or email the parish office.  Please note: the hospital no longer provides us with a list of Catholics who are hospitalized; therefore, you must notify the parish.

 

Ministry with Maturing Adults: For All Adults 55+

All are welcome to attend the various session offered for those in the second half of life. 

VON SMART (Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together) Exercise Program is held on Tuesday mornings. For registration please call: VON at 705 737 5044 ext. 221.

Christian Meditation is an ancient form of contemplative prayer rooted in the Christian tradition. We will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9th on Zoom. If you are interested in learning more about this form of prayer please contact Catherine Ecker. (cecker@archtoronto.org or 705 728 2985 ext. 115).

Writing Circle Alumni Group:  this is a gathering for those who have already completed the Life Story Writing program. The monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, May 11th at 2:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Room.

New Date! Common Frauds and Scams: Wednesday, May 24th at 2:00 p.m.  Join us for an important information session facilitated by Barrie Police Service on how to protect yourself and family!  The session will also include important information on preventing senior abuse. All are welcome, no pre-registration required! We will gather for 2:00 p.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.

 

Rosary Apostolate

The Rosary Apostolate has been visiting our classrooms once a month to pray the Rosary with our students for 22 years.   They are seeking people who are willing to visit our schools to pray the Rosary with the children once a month for 8 days a year.  Training, screening, and materials will be provided.  Please contact: Anne Gariepy at 705–305–0911. Join us for a time of prayer, catechesis and conversation as we discuss Mary, the first disciple.  We will devote some time to deepening our understanding of the stained-glass windows in the church.  We gather at 7:30 p.m. and conclude by 9:00 p.m. All are welcome.
