Praying for the Sick and Faithful Departed

If you or a family member is sick please let us know and we shall add their name to our prayer list which is posted in the gathering space of the church.

We remember in pray those who have died recently including: Sharon Anderson-Alter, Lieve McPhee, Wayne Neilssen, Antoinetta Figliuzzi, Isabel Vergne Abascal and John Moniz.

Parish Pancake Breakfast

Hosted by the Knight of Columbus Council 1626, in the parish hall after the 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Masses on Sunday, February 11.

Pancakes, maple syrup, sausages and fruit cocktail will be served. Coffee, tea, and juice will also be provided.  No reservations required, Join us for a wonderful breakfast! Good Will donations will be accepted at the door, either cash or debit.

Visiting the Hospital

If you or a family member are admitted to RVH please let them know you are Catholic and call the parish office to inform us. If you wish to receive Holy Communion please let the parish office know and one of our pastoral visitors will come to see you.

Parish Bible Study

Please note, there has been a change of location and start date.  Bible Study will take place here at St. Mary’s in the parish hall, starting Thursday, February 15^th at either 1:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.

Friday February 9^th: Anointing of the Sick

The Anointing of the Sick conveys several graces and imparts the gifts of strengthening in the Holy Spirit against anxiety, discouragement and temptation and conveys peace and fortitude. The Anointing of the Sick is a prayer of healing including spiritual health and for the courage, strength and peace to bear the burden of illness.

We will celebrate a Mass of Anointing on Friday February 9^th at 12:10 p.m. All those requesting the Sacrament of Anointing, young and elderly are welcome to attend. A reception of soup and sandwiches will follow in the parish hall.

Parish Lenten Mission

Join us for three consecutive evenings beginning Sunday, March 3^rd at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 4^thand Tuesday, March 5^th at 7:00 p.m.

Led by Chris Bray, one of Canada’s most prolific Catholic speakers and musicians.  Chris will lead us in three nights of talks about encountering Christ more deeply through this Eucharistic focused parish mission.

Liturgy of the Word with Children

We are seeking adult leaders for Liturgy of the Word with Children at the 12:00 p.m. Mass.  The commitment would be once or twice a month on a Sunday. Formation and training will be provided. Please contact David at dmurdoch@archtoronto.org if you are interested in leading this important ministry.

All Adults 55+: Ministry with Maturing Adults

All are welcome to attend the various session offered for those in the second half of life.

Christian Meditation is an ancient form of contemplative prayer rooted in the Christian tradition. We will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 on Zoom. All are welcome! Alumni Writing Group:  this is a gathering for those who have already completed the Life Story Writing program. The monthly meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8^th in St. Joseph’s Room.

Join us on the 1^st and 3^rd Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Join us for cards or your favourite board game. We serve simple refreshments.  No Registration is required. All are welcome.

An Afternoon of Music: Wednesday March 13^th from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Russ Clayton and Pat Gowan of The Flailing Shilaleighs will be performing mostly traditional Irish and East Coast Canadian music.  Refreshments will be served. Free will offering. All are welcome.

Vitamin F: What are you doing for Lent?

Tuesday, February 13 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

The Church invites us to continue to grow in our relationship with God and our understanding of our faith. All are welcome to attend this time of catechesis, conversation and prayer as we prepare for the next liturgical season. We will have some simple refreshments available and conclude by 8:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Confirmation Preparation for Adults

If you are an adult, baptized in the Catholic Church and would like to be Confirmed please contact Catherine Ecker (cecker@archtoronto.org or 705 728 2985 ext. 115) for details regarding preparation.

Confirmation will be celebrated close to the feast of Pentecost.

Youth Ministry

M.E.R.C.Y. (Ministry to Educate Roman Catholic Youth) is for youth grades J.K. to Gr. 4 and gathers once a month on Friday nights from 6:00-7:30 p.m. where we explore our faith in a dynamic way through activities, games, crafts and music.  Our next gathering is Friday, February 9^th.^. Registration required. 

EDGE is a youth ministry program for youth grades 5-8 to come together once a month on a Friday from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  EDGE is a safe, fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith and most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way.  Our next gathering is Friday, February 23^rd.

LIFETEEN – for high school teens to explore their faith through talks, prayer and friendship meeting monthly on Sunday nights. Our next gathering is Sunday, February 11^th after the 4:00 p.m. Mass.  Dinner provided.

Public Speaking Contest

The Catholic Women’s League invites all Grade 7and 8 students to participate in the Public Speaking Contest to be held at St Mary's Parish in the hall on Saturday, February 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Contestants will present a prepared speech that is not less than 3 minutes and no more than 5 minutes in length. Contestants will also be asked to prepare a 1 minute impromptu speech. Lunch Supervisor Needed

Monsignor Clair Catholic School, 345 Livingstone Street East is looking for lunch supervisors to supervise students while they eat and play outside at recess from 11:55 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. We are interested in people who would like to come every day and those that are interested in being on-call, to be called when we are short staffed. It is a paid position.
