27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

On behalf of our St. Vincent de Paul conference and the clients we serve, thank you to our parishioners for your very generous donations over the past few weeks. 

Your contributions for our annual collection totalled $26,608.00.

Prayers for the Sick and Faithful Departed

If you or a family member is sick please let us know and we shall add their name to our prayer list which is posted in the gathering space of the church.

We remember in pray those who have died recently including Janina Pszenny, Anton Schlosser and Jeanne Moloney.

Visiting the Hospital: if you or a family member are admitted to RVH please let them know you are Catholic and call the parish office to inform us. If you wish to receive Holy Communion please let the parish office know and one of our pastoral visitors will come to see you.

Hospitality Sunday!

Parish families and ministries are invited to host a hospitality Sunday -all expenses paid.

The following weekends are available:  Nov. 4-5, Feb. 3-4 and March 2-3.

If you can help serve at any of these weekends, please call Susan in the parish office at ext. 101.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

Thank you to all who have responded to the food drive to this point.  If you forgot your bag of groceries this weekend, by all means bring it next week and place it in the hall.  All donations go to the Barrie Food Bank.

Combating Hunger Through your Compassion 

Many of our brothers and sisters grapple with the daily challenge of putting food on the table. In response to their urgent need, ShareLife has launched the Food Security Grants – dedicating over half a million dollars to combat hunger. Your compassionate support of our parish’s ShareLife Campaign will make possible this bold action.

Please support our fight against hunger at sharelife.org/donate or by giving at the parish with a ShareLife envelope. Thank you for heeding the Lord’s call to feed the hungry in our community and beyond.

All Adults 55+: Ministry with Maturing Adults

All are welcome to attend the various sessions offered for those in the second half of life. 

VON SMART (Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together) Exercise Program is held on Tuesday mornings. For details regarding registration please call: VON at 705 737 5044 ext. 221.

Christian Meditation is an ancient form of contemplative prayer rooted in the Christian tradition. We will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10^th on Zoom. All are welcome! Alumni Writing Group:  this is a gathering for those who have already completed the Life Story Writing program. The monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, October 12^th at 2:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Room.

Thursday Afternoon: October 19^th

On the 1^st and 3^rd Thursday of the month join us for cards or your favourite board game.  We serve simple refreshments. 

No Registration is required.  All are welcome.

Listening Deeply to One Another

Join us for an informative session led by a member of The Listening Post.  Come and discover how you can offer the priceless gift of listening to others.  Deep listening     makes our homes and community better places. Care givers, spouses, parents, grandparents, visitors to the homebound do not want to miss this session. Refreshments will be available.  No registration is required.  Mark the date now and plan to attend this informative and timely session.

Youth Ministry

M.E.R.C.Y. (Ministry to Educate Roman Catholic Youth) is for youth grades J.K.-4 and gathers once a month on Friday nights from 6:00-7:30 p.m. where we explore our faith in a dynamic way through activities, games, crafts and music. 

Our next gathering is Friday, October 13.

EDGE is a youth ministry program for youth grades 5-8 to come together once a month on a Friday from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  EDGE is a safe, fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith and most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. 

Our next gathering is Friday, October 27.

LIFE TEEN –You’re invited to a We The North Theology of the Body Retreat on Saturday, October 14^th, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Location:  Holy Spirit Parish, 650 Essa Road, Barrie.  $25.00/per person, meals, games and fun!

Knights of Columbus, Council 1626 Parish Breakfast

The Knights of Columbus invites you to their, first in-a-long-time, Parish Breakfast in our parish hall on Sunday, October 15th after the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  Good Will donations will be accepted at the door.
