Knights of Columbus (K of C)      Barrie Council #1626

Grand Knight—Dean Beaudry
Telephone: (705) 728-1641 (Hall)

The Knights of Columbus was originally formed in 1882 in New Haven Conn. through the tireless efforts of Fr. Michael J. McGivney to render financial aid to members and families. The principles of CHARITY, UNITY, FRATERNITY & PATRIOITSM are the pillars of the organization with charity being the most important.

Barrie Council 1626 was founded in 1912 and is affiliated with St. Mary’s, Our Lady of Lourdes Elmvale & St. Patrick’s in Phelpston and currently have around 300 members. The K of C service program has 4 activity groups where
members can get involved: Church; Family; Community; Council.

Giving our time through numerous events for our churches and communities allows us to raise money for many causes locally, provincially and nationally such as: Arthritis Society, Coats for Kids, Special Olympics, RVH, St. Vincent de Paul, Birthright, Barrie Food Bank, Christmas Cheer, Hospice Simcoe, Candle-lighters Simcoe and bursaries to Barrie High Schools.

We meet the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings (which are not mandatory) are usually followed by a fellowship hour. In our recruitment process, we ask any Practical Catholic gentleman over the age of 18 that he gives only the time and resources he is able, noting that the member’s family commitments are his first priority.

If you or someone you know is seeking to join our organization, contact our council at 705-728-1641. We will be happy to discuss what membership in the Knights of Columbus means to us, and what it can do for anyone interested.
