September 10, 2024 - Dodsworth
American business man retires and take his wife to Europe where they begin to go their separate ways. A fantastic adult drama about ageism and the power of the human spirit. Based on a novel by Sinclair Lewis and Oscar Winner for Best Picture in 1936. Starring Walter Huston, Ruth Chatterton and Mary Astor, directed by William Wyler.
Sept 24 – Holiday (1938 version)
Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn play a couple of joyous non-conformists destined to fall in love in this charming comedy-drama directed by George Cukor.
Oct 8 - Mildred Pierce
Academy Award winning performance by Joan Crawford in this film noir classic about a dedicated mother who gets tangled in murder and intrigue because of her spoiled daughter.
Also starring Ann Blyth and Eve Arden, directed by Michael Curtiz, 1946.
Oct 29 – Vertigo
Alfred Hitchcock’s one-of-a-kind masterpiece Vertigo, the classic, mind-bending mystery of identity and obsession starring Jimmy Stewart as a recovering police detective and Kim Novak as the woman he’s trailing in one of the greatest motion pictures of all time. 1958.
November 26 - To Be Or Not To Be
Ernst Lubitsch’s daring black comedy about a Polish acting troupe that try to outwit the Nazis starring the great Jack Benny, Robert Stack, and Carole Lombard in her last film that was amazingly made in 1942 during the height of World War II.
December 17 - Remember The Night
One of the best Christmas movies you’ve never heard of! Convicted jewel thief (Barbara Stanwyck) is put in custody of a streetwise district attorney (Fred MacMurray) during the holidays and experiences the joy of Christmas and family for the first time in her life. A forgotten Christmas classic from 1940.
